Algeciras is a city in the south of Andalusia, and is located in a strategic location, on the Strait of Gibraltar. This location has made the port of Algeciras one of the most important goods port in Spain. Algeciras has a population of about 120,000 inhabitants.Algeciras is situated about 20 km from Gibraltar, about 110km from Jerez and 130km from Malaga. The port of Algeciras connects with Gibraltar, Ceuta and Tangier. If you travel by car, there are connections through national motorways, expressways and highways so that you can rent a car and travel on your own without depending on timetables of public transport
If you decide to visit the city, do not miss the old village, with the Roman ruins and the British building of the early twentieth century. The Parque de las Acacias, Saladillo Park, Park Maria Cristina or Garganta del Capitan are also worth a visit.
